Wildflower Garden

On Earth Day 2023, the Creation Care Team at St Ann planted a wildflower garden on our property across Bishop Lake Road.  The garden has bloomed spectacularly for three years in a row.  Bees, butterflies, insects and birds have continuously feasted on all the garden offers.

As you have noticed, the colorful blossoms have begun to fade preparing for the cooler seasons upon us.  What happens during this time in the garden when it appears less colorful?  The blossoms have sent their seeds to the earth to await the warmth of the spring season to come.  The stalks protect the seeds during this time and help keep the weeds from overwhelming the garden.  Insects hide among the stalks and provide protein for the birds that choose to winter here along with all of us.

Around Earth Day 2026 the stalks will be cut back allowing the warm Spring air to heat the earth for the seeds to germinate.  And thus we see the beauty of the earth and all upon it in this everlasting life cycle created by God and given to us as a gift.  Let us care for our Common Home.
