Who We Are & What We Do

Scouts BSA Troop 1776 is a dynamic youth ministry that builds life and leadership skills through a youth-led program rooted in adventure, service, and personal growth. With a strong history of success, 195 of our scouts have earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout since our founding. We meet weekly in the Scout Lodge on Tuesday evenings, fostering teamwork, responsibility, and a spirit of exploration. Our monthly outdoor activities—including camping, climbing, hiking, and even sailing—challenge scouts to grow in confidence and character.

Why We Exist

Guided by the values of the Scout Oath and Law, Troop 1776 helps young people develop into responsible, faith-filled leaders. Our program reflects the call to serve others and embrace God’s creation through outdoor adventures and skill-building experiences. By empowering youth to lead and achieve, we cultivate future leaders who embody the virtues of integrity, service, and perseverance

Who We Serve

We welcome middle and high school youth (ages 12–18), as well as eligible 5th-grade Cub Scouts transitioning into Scouts BSA. Our program provides opportunities for young people to challenge themselves, develop independence, and form lasting friendships. In 2025 alone, our scouts will embark on thrilling experiences such as climbing, rappelling, hiking, sailing in the Bahamas, and attending the Summit National Summer Camp in West Virginia.

Volunteer Opportunities

We invite adult volunteers to support our scouts as:

  • Merit Badge Counselors – Share your expertise by mentoring scouts in specific skills and career-based badges. A full list of merit badges can be found here.
  • Troop Leaders & Mentors – Assist with meetings, outdoor activities, and special events, guiding scouts in their personal and leadership growth. Whether you have a special skill to teach or simply a passion for youth development, your involvement makes a difference!

Special Requirements

All adult volunteers must complete the BSA Youth Protection Training, leader-specific training, a background check, and registration with the BSA. Additionally, volunteers must complete the Archdiocesan safe environment VIRTUS training.
