Bereavement Support Ministry
Who We Are & What We Do
The Bereavement Support Ministry is a weekly, volunteer facilitated, drop-in support group for those who are grieving after the loss of someone in their life. Discussions are based on the need of the group at the time of each meeting. Anyone may attend no matter what their loss or faith may be.
Why We Exist
Following the Gospel passage from Matthew 5:4, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted,” this group brings comfort and camaraderie once a funeral is over, when relatives and friends may not be calling as often. Having the support of people who understand what you are going through is important during a time of grief.
Who We Serve
Due to the nature of life, many who attend are widowed. However, anyone who has lost someone close to them, whether a family member, friend, or colleague, may find support within this group. Some people attend only a few meetings and others may attend over several years; there is no time limit to grieving. The fluid membership of the Bereavement Ministry means people can come for a one-meeting boost or lean on the group’s support as needed.
