Rest at My feet: Ministry marks ten years of adoration

Do you ever stop to listen to yourself breathe?

It may sound like a crazy question in today’s nonstop, plugged-in reality. But there are more than 200 St. Ann parishioners who find time to do just that through the Adoration Ministry. They sit in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, adjacent to the church, and simply breathe. It may be five minutes; it may be an hour.

These devoted guardians are present 254 hours a month at St. Ann. They pray the rosary, read the bible, talk to God or sit in total stillness.

“Adoration is a time for me to listen to Jesus in the silence of my heart, said Kathy Bryan, the ministry’s leader.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Adoration Ministry at St. Ann – that’s 50,000 hours of prayer! In an earlier incarnation, adoration was held first Friday of each month, but in 2009, a group of parishioners was able to expand to daily adoration, Bryan said. Now First Fridays are 24 hours of adoration.

All ages and time commitments are welcome to participate. Learn more about the Adoration Ministry HERE and on the last page of each bulletin.
