Apostles of Charity

Perhaps more than any other St. Ann ministry, the St. Vincent de Paul Society embodies the La Salettes’ mission to embrace the alienated. Thanks to parishioner donations, ministry organizers paid nearly $200,000 this year toward rent, utilities andbills for those in need.

December is an especially busy time for the St. Vincent crew, which put in 10,000 volunteer hours in 2018. The winter coat drive just wrapped up. This Friday, volunteers will fill Nolan Hall with Christmas gifts, household supplies and food from St. Ann parishioners for 450 “adoptees” throughout North Georgia. Some of those gifts will go to Sharing Our Blessings, a program that feeds 400 students from a Marietta school over weekends and holidays.

“LaBelle Elementary is a real jewel in our crown,” said Betsy Van Etten, who heads the ministry. “Sharing our Blessings has a huge impact on this neighborhood in stabilizing the lives of the children there.”
