Our mission in Life Teen is to lead teens closer to Christ.
And we have been able to do this at St. Ann's over the past twenty years because of Catholic adults responding to their baptismal call as Core members.
Very simply, a Core member's job is to share Jesus Christ with teens. You don't have to be an expert on Scripture and you don't need to have a Theology degree. Your job is relational ministry which is showing teens that they are valued and loved by God.
We do ask all prospective Core members to take a look at this Core Covenant. This document is a helpful one if you are discerning Core Team as a possibility.
Meet Our Core
As a recent college graduate from Benedictine College, I moved from the Sunflower state of Kansas to the beautiful state of Georgia. I work on the Events Team at Life Teen, and I am loving it! You can usually find me laughing loudly with coffee in hand. My family is responsible for my crazy love of baseball and music. I love to meet new people, enjoy the little things, and I'm always down for a dance party. St. Ann’s has been such a blessing since my move here, and I am extremely excited to be a part of the Core Team!!
A transplant from Baton Rouge, La in the mid ‘80s, and purple and gold to the core, John calls Roswell Home. His four children are finishing/have finished college and are staking out on their own. For 30 something years he has made a career in architecture and served on the boards of Cobb Family Resources, North Fulton Senior Services, Cobb Chamber of Commerce, and as a St. Ann’s Life Teen Core Member since 2012.

My name is Kirsten Cottrill, and I am a graduate student at Emory University seeking my PhD in pharmacological science. I grew up in Tallahassee, FL, with two little brothers and a ton of dogs and cats. I went to Mercer University for my undergraduate career and was very involved in the Catholic retreat Awakening, which is where I met my husband Ryan Cottrill. I was a Core member at St. Catherine of Sienna in Kennesaw for a year and a half before moving over to St. Ann's.
I am so excited to be on the Core team here at St. Ann’s! This church has been a true blessing to me and my family, and I am so happy to give back to a program that gave me so much. I was active in Life Teen until I began my undergraduate education at Furman University. Now, I am back in Atlanta at Georgia State University for my Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I love to run and sing and am extremely outgoing...can’t wait to meet all of you:)
Originally from New York, my family and I moved to Cobb County in 1986 and St. Ann’s became our new parish. In 1992, I was part of Life Teen when it first began. The Life Teen program had a tremendous impact on my life especially during my high school years and as I entered the military. After leaving the Army, I graduated from Kennesaw State University and currently work as a Sales Executive at ADP. I live in Woodstock with my wife and four children and I’m happy to be part of Life Teen once more to help give back to a program that gave me so much.
A graduate of College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, Tim Farley moved from his hometown of Simsbury, Connecticut to Georgia in the early 1990’s where he and his wife, Colleen, found their spiritual home at St. Ann. The Farleys have four children who have all been raised at St. Ann. Tim has enjoyed his involvement with Edge and Life Teen over the years, and is now excited to be part of the Core Team. Tim is a Senior Director at Cushman Wakefield and serves on the Board of Feeding The Homeless Project, Inc. Tim likes sports of all kinds, and especially enjoys time with his family.
I grew up in Stone Mountain where I was active in my parish teen program and St. Pius' campus ministry. I'm a Ramblin' Wreck and I am passionate about Core and love spending time with my three teenage kids and their friends through Edge and Life Teen. My lovely wife, Kathleen, is president of the Life Teen board and we've always been active in St. Ann's ministries from S.A.F.E. to Renew to Promise Keepers and pre-Cana. But Life Teen really has been my home now for 3 years and the ministry that I see affecting lives in such a powerful way. Hopefully I'll keep doing this even after my kids are through the program because I feel I get more out of this than I put into it.
My name is Luis Herrera and I am originally from Caracas, Venezuela. I moved to Atlanta on November 1999 with my wife, 2-year-old daughter and another daughter in the oven (my wife was 5 months pregnant). After having our second daughter, the Lord blessed us with twins (boy and girl) in 2002 so, the final count in our household is: mom, dad, four kids and one dog … and my mother. We moved from Cumming to Marietta almost three years ago and became St. Ann’s parishioners. Experiencing teen mass at 6 PM throughout these years moved me so much that one day suddenly, after listening to either Kelly or Ryan calling for core members, I decided to jump in. I am so happy being part of this beautiful ministry and I am looking forward to know all of the wonderful teens and fellow core members.
I'm a wife of one (my oldest child Todd) and mother of 3. Huge college football fan and love my Auburn Tigers! Grew up in Dunwoody and have been at St Ann's since 1992.
Grew up in Dunwoody and went to Georgia Tech. Upon graduation, with a BS in Building Construction, was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force and served for two years. Entered the homebuilding industry where I began and ended my career after 25 years and currently working for Life Teen Inc. After meeting Denise, now my wife and fellow CORE member, in 7th grade I was finally successful in getting her to go on a date after college. We have been married for 26 blissful years and have 3 children, Matt (25), Maddie (21) and Noah(17).
My name is Andrew Knuckles and I've been on Core here at St. Ann's for about five months since graduating from Kennesaw State! I grew up going to St. Ann's and was actually a teen in the program as recently as four and a half years ago. During college, I was blessed to stay involved by helping on retreats and other occasional events. From my time as a teen, St. Ann's Life Teen has blessed me with a family that has walked with me through good times and bad, all while leading me to encounter Jesus! I continue to serve because I want each of these teens to encounter God and The Church in the same way, and allow the experience to transform their lives.

Peruvian born and raised, surrounded by priests, nuns and missionaries, I have enjoyed the recent years with Life Teen, going on retreats, missions and other places with the teens. I am a married father with 2 teenage girls who attend Life Teen and an 11 year old son. My job as a project manager for Cisco system frequently brings me out of town, but in my spare time, you can find me helping my wife with her guest book business and cheering at our kids’ sporting events.

This is my first year as a Core member, and I look forward to being a part of the joyful ministry that brought us to St. Ann’s in the first place. During the week, I teach Literature to middle schoolers at St. Joseph Catholic School. On the weekends, I enjoy reading, movies, hiking, and hanging with my husband and our puppy, Toby Flenderson.
I grew up in Lilburn, GA and graduated from Georgia College and later UGA with a Masters in Accounting. My wife and I became parishioners here after witnessing the joy and energy of the Life Teen mass and shortly after were married at St. Ann. Now we are excited to be a part of such a great ministry. I’m part of the music ministry here at St. Ann and find most of my strength, joy and peace by encountering Jesus in music (either through making it, praying through it or listening to it). I love old, blind, three-legged dogs, LSU football, Buddy Guy and the AP comma. I’m an autism aunt and the godmother to two of my beautiful nieces and one of my cuddly nephews. When I grow up, I want to be one of those people who can make dinner with whatever happens to be in the fridge.
This is Lauren’s first year on Core at St. Ann’s but she has been serving youth in Atlanta for the past 10 years! I was born and raised in Norcross, GA and recently moved to Marietta and LOVE this area! I love being with the next generation of our church-I strongly believe we can learn a lot from them and that they will single handedly change the world! I love ALL things Auburn and anything that is orange and blue. Here are a few of my other favorite things: reading, the beach, my family, going on adventures with friends, sunsets, Frank Sinatra music, Blue Bloods (and a million other TV shows!), and laughing. I’m so grateful that God keeps calling me to youth ministry and that I get to be inspired by some of the best young people I know!

Jose hopes to serve God by serving his wife and three kids first and foremost. Then as he looks out to the community he asks God the Father to guide Him in discerning where else he is needed to serve. Inspired by God's love, mercy and grace throughout his journey, he hopes to inspire others to live life to their full potential.
